Gyproc® Activ'Air board is a high-performance board consisting of an aerated gypsum core with special additives encased in, and firmly bonded to, strong paper liners. Gyproc Activ'Air boards improve indoor air quality by taking formaldehyde out of the air and converting them into safe, inert compounds that, once captured in the board, cannot be released back into the air.
Gyproc® Activ'Air is ideal for buildings with good indoor air quality requirements. It is suitable for most system applications where normal fire, structural and acoustic levels are specified. Suitable for direct decoration.

Inert means it doesn't react chemically with any other materials, and is safe for humans and animals.
The special additive is a patented additive of Saint-Gobain Gyproc, which is certified by ISO-16000 for its performance (reduction of Formaldehyde from the air). It is safe for human health as per the various tests conducted in the Gyproc laboratories.
In a test environment Activ'Air reduces aldehyde concentration by 70%. Tests were conducted by the the EUROFINS laboratory group in Denmark certifying Activ' Air's effectiveness.
Paint: Water-based acrylic paints, primers and breathable wall paper can be used on Activ’ Air.
Cutting and finishing: cutting of board like any other board does not affect its performance in any aspect.
Note: Non- water based or oil based paints are strictly prohibited for Activ’ Air board because it reduces its performance in terms of absorbing formaldehyde and other pollutants.

Activ'Air can help to eliminate bad odors, but is not the absolute answer. A concentration of a given substance may be so high that you will experience odor nuisance before it impacts your health and vice versa.

Aldehydes are often contained in glues and resins used in industrial processes to manufacture all types of materials. They are present in perfume, lacquers, paints and some building materials. They are also found in cigarette smoke.
Formaldehyde is the most harmful aldehyde. It is contained in glues and resins used in the production of chipboard, wood panels, flooring and pre-pasted wallpaper. Smoking also causes the emission of relatively high concentrations of formaldehyde. It is also found in varnishes for wooden flooring, paints, cosmetics (shampoos, deodorants,) and textiles (curtains). Formaldehyde can cause health problems.
High concentrations of formaldehyde in the air can irritate the mucous membranes of the eyes and respiratory system. This results in watery eyes, runny nose, dry throat and cough. In some cases, it can cause mild or moderate inflammation of the mucosa of the eyes (conjunctivitis). According to some, formaldehydes are carcinogenic.
